House Prices Up - Annual Increase 6.7%
17th June 2014
House prices up, an annual increase of 6.7% according to the Land Registry
The Land Registry has reported that April house prices were up 1.5% since March 2014 and up 6.7% since March 2013. This figure does not however reflect the true picture in central London, which increased by circa 17% fuelled by lack of stock, the Help to Buy scheme and overseas investors, still keen to invest in London real estate.
Average house prices in England and Wales now stand at £172,069 compared with a peak of £181,572 in November 2007, and prices are expected to continue to rise over the next few years as the economy gathers momentum, although there may be a cooling off period in London!
